All Five Notre Dame Winter Sports Advance to CIF-SS Playoffs

After successful, hard-fought seasons, all five Notre Dame winter sports teams have earned bids to the CIF-Southern Section Playoffs. The Knights will be represented by women’s and men’s basketball, women’s and men’s soccer, and women’s water polo.

Women’s Basketball

The women’s basketball team finished the regular season 14-14 and will compete in Division I for the first time in program history. The Knights travel to Ventura High School to face Ventura in the first round on Thursday, February 12 at 7:00 p.m. With a win, Notre Dame will advance to play on Saturday.

Men’s Basketball

The Knights concluded the regular season with an impressive 20-6 record and will compete in the Open Division. Notre Dame has qualified for the Open Division in four of the last five years. The Knights begin pool play against La Mirada on February 11, followed by St. John Bosco on February 17.

Women’s Soccer

For the second consecutive year, the women’s soccer team captured the Mission League championship title. The Knights posted a 12-4-3 record and will compete in the Division I playoffs. Notre Dame hosts Glendora on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. A win would send the Knights into Saturday’s second round.

Men’s Soccer

The men’s soccer team finished the season 8-5-3 and is competing in the Division 4 playoffs. The Knights won their opening-round match against Western in a 3-2 shootout victory and will face Cypress on Friday at 5:00 p.m.

Women’s Water Polo

The women’s water polo team finished the regular season 12-10 and has made a strong run in the Division 3 playoffs, advancing through the first two rounds. The Knights defeated Foothill Tech to move on and then beat Paloma Valley 9-6. Notre Dame will face Northwood in the semifinals on Friday.
